Dear MS Dynamics 365 field service users,
I am currently trying to log into the field service app however it keeps on telling me that I do not have the right authorization.
I followed the following steps to make the app work:
Security roles:
Woodward (published to Version 11.3-11.2):
Mobile app (IOS: 11.3.106.0):
Thanks in advance for the help!
Kind regards,
Dennis van den Broek
Yes, I thought so too.
I was more inclined to think that it was something we missed that was not obvious. And indeed it was...
Here is what we observed:
Mobile project records are created in Dynamics when the mobile project is published, linking the mobile project to each security role selected, for each business unit.
If your business unit structure is setup after the mobile project is published, then there is no job triggered to re-evaluate the mobile app security provision (and trigger the creation of additional mobile projects for the new BUs).
The work around was to update the mobile project as below:
1) remove the selected security roles
2) publish the project
3) re-select the security roles
4) publish the project
It would be good if support was able to provide this information or if there was documentation available in terms of the recommended sequence of events (e.g. setup your business unit structure before deploying the mobile project).
Can you take a screenshot of the plannen tab?
Thanks
It is weird that Ms tells you that. It's just unacceptable.
I've implemented FS Mobile for a customer, where the ressources belong to a 3rd child level BU.
Só I don't agree with MS affirmation.
Hello all,
I also observed the same issue, when attempting to log in as a user who is not assigned to the root Business Unit.
If the same user is updated with the root Business Unit and assigned the same role, the user is able to access the app successfully.
When enabling security roles against a mobile project in Woodford, only the security roles linked to the root BU are listed. My assumption was that the mobile project would still apply to child BU security roles inherited from the root BU.
We logged a support ticket and the support engineer advised that this a Woodford app limitation.
I am hoping that this is not the case, as it would restrict our ability to manage complex security requirements within a field service implementation.
Has anyone implemented the field service mobile app within an environment with multi-layered business unit structure, where field service mobile users are not assigned at root level?
Field Service app>resource scheduling>resource.
Select your resource and take a screenshot.
Thanks.
Hi,
Where can I find the resource configuration?
In MS Dynamics field service or under the advanced settings?
Kind regards,
Dennis van den Broek
Hello Dennis,
That is not the app from Microsoft but Resco.
Could you share a screenshot of your resource configuration?
Thanks.
Keep in mind that you are not licensed for that app. FS Mobile comes from MS and is included in the FS license, MobileCRM comes from Resco and requires a separate license.
Well I sort of solved it by simply downloading the app called ''MobileCRM'' instead of Microsoft's ''FieldServiceMobile''
Same functionalities, but different developer.
It worked after one try.
