Reset to Zero Function

Hello Experts,

I am trying to import my GL Accounts opening balances into Business Central using Table 81, Gen.Journal Line. My question is that, once I have imported the data and if there is anything wrong in system after import, can I do any reset back to zero for GL Accounts?  Is there any out of the box functionality for rest to zero for GL Accounts?

Thanks in advance for your valuable input.

Best Regards,

Ranjith

The g/l accounts are only impacted once the journal is posted. If you post and there is a mistake then you can reverse the journal from the g/l registers page

There is no such function in the standard system.

But it is a good advice to take a backup before you post the opening balance. And then you can restore the backup if you post something incorrectly.

Could be either a database backup or you can copy the company before you star posting.

A simple solution is to copy your company before you post. If something goes wrong you can delete and create a new company from the copy.

Amit has a option but I know if it's me, I don't want to see those entries and their reversals forever. I would rather have a good clean start.

Best practice is to copy the Company first before you insert any opening balances.

When you have issue, you can copy it back from Copy Company.

If everything is ok, you can remove the Copy Company.

Hi, As mentioned by several experts above, there is no such zeroing feature in BC.

You can re-import the reverse amount and post it so the total amount becomes 0. But this leaves historical data in BC.

It is recommended that you test it in the Sandbox environment before importing it into the Production environment.

    Hope this helps.
    Thanks.
