User login problem in Great Plains Dynamics 5.5

Posted on by 1,652

A user is trying to login to Great Plains Dynamics 5.5 and is getting the following error message:

Your login has been removed from the user activity file and you cannot be in the accounting system.

What needs to be done to resolve this?

Hi, get everyone to log out and clear the activity file.

    • If your database is MSSQL...run 'delete activity' against the dynamics database in query analyser.
    • If its Pervasive SQL...rename the activity.btr file to be say, activity.old (from memory this table is in the System folder ???)
    • If its c-Tree, rename the activity.dat and activity.idx...to be activity.datold and .idxold. (Found inthe system folder as well) - Not sure if C-tree was still used with 5.5 but I suppose its possible.

Davids right. Look seriously at upgrading. From just a business risk viewpoint 5.5 is no longer supported by Microsoft.

What platform are you running on?

This error normally would occur when a user is already logged in and their Activity record is removed.

You can get all users out and clear the activity table to get a clean start.

PS: It is really time to upgrade: v5.5 has not be a supported version for a very long time.
