Appointment created for child Contact roll up and visible in a new Parent Account

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

D365 includes the Activity rollup feature where all activities of child Contacts are shown in the Account Activities view even if the Account is not set as Regarding the activity.  While this is a great feature under normal circumstances, this doesn’t work well when the contact changes the Organisation/Account.

As an example, A contact called Joe Bloggs used to work for an Account called ABC Corp – we create an appointment with Joe Bloggs and set the Regarding as ABC Corp.  The activity shows up for Joe Bloggs as well as ABC Corp. Looking good so far!

However, if we change the account on Joe Bloggs record to Litware Corp, the activity shows up on ABC Corp as well as Litware (even though Litware Corp is not involved in that activity).

As per our business requirements, we would like to restrict appointments being displayed for new Parent Account (Litware cop in this example) .

Any suggestions regarding this scenario?
