GP2016R2 on SQL2017?

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

I am going to be moving a client from GP2013 to GP2018.   I know this is a two hop upgrade.   The client wants to have GP2018 on SQL 2017.   I was hoping to move the GP2013 data in to SQL2017, upgrade to GP2016 then move to GP2018.   Obviously the potential issue here is running the upgrade to GP2016 on SQL2017.   Will this work?

Thanks

I would run the upgrade to Microsoft Dynamics GP 2016 in place on the current server - SQL Server 2017 is not supported with Dynamics GP 2016. Once you complete this upgrade, use KB article 878449 (support.microsoft.com/.../878449) to move the upgraded databases to Microsoft SQL Server 2017, then run the GP 2018 upgrade.
