Print Labels button greyed out... BUG?

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

I have a small retail customer that prints labels from the sales screen with POS 2009.  They have several items that the print label button is greyed out when they open the item properties.

How to recreate.  Add an item.  Add a supplier to that item.  Scan/enter the item on the sales screen, within pos view.  View/Edit the item, then click the more button to view all the properties.  The "Print Lables" button is disabled.  If you go to the same item within the manager view and open properties, the button is not disabled.  Cashier has all rights allowed.

Tried this on original release, SP1, and FP1.  I believe this is a bug.  Can anyone else confirm this.

Thanks
Ed Boyer

    Hello Ed,

    Thank you for the update.

A support incident is required for Support Engineers to document "bugs" in our software as a Hotfix Request. If you would like to get this issue entered as a Hotfix Request, please open a new support incident online or by calling 1-888-477-7877.

If the support incident results in identifying a Hotfix Request, the case will be non-billable.

Please let us know if you have any other questions.

If as you say this is "By Desgin" then why can you do it if the item doesn't have a supplier assigned?

This would mean that the original design of not allowing that feature from the sales view is broken.  And that would mean allowing the feature at all from the sales view is the bug.

PS.  The features that was promised in the Feature Pack wasn't even released so I am sure that any features that are summited will not be incorporated as native code but dished out to a ISV to be design and sold seperately.

    Thanks

    Hello Ed,

    Thank you for your questions.

This issue is more than likely by design. The POS view is for customer-facing tasks. Printing labels is not a customer-facing task.

If you would like to see this feature in future releases, you may want to enter this as a product suggestion.

At Microsoft Business Solutions, we believe in listening to you and responding to your needs with innovative and effective business software solutions. That’s why we continue to provide to you a product suggestions and feedback tool. Your feedback is delivered directly to the appropriate product development team which ensures that the people who work with our software day after day get the chance to help shape how future versions of our software will work.

To be as effective as we can, we recommend you search previously submitted feedback and suggestions and suggest you vote on suggestions which have already been submitted by someone else, remember the more votes the more likely an item will make it into the products in the shortest timeframe. If your suggestion has not been already entered by someone else, you are able to enter a new one.

You can access the RMS Product Suggestion Newsgroup by clicking the following Web site:

Community participants vote for suggestions, and Microsoft uses the votes to help prioritize features in upcoming versions. Each month, Microsoft will respond to the suggestions with the most votes.
