Smartlist Reminder Showing Incorrect Number of Records

I created a new Smartlist using Smartlist Builder that shows purchase orders with prepayments. I started with the Purchase Orders Smartlist and linked the Purchase Order Prepayments and Wennsoft PO Integration GP tables to it (we are using the Key2Act 3rd party software). I then created a Favorite with the search criteria to only include purchase orders with a status not equal to "Closed". I created a Reminder for records greater than 0.

When I see the Reminder on my Home Screen, the number of records it displays in the ( ) is not accurate. I have tried to 'Refresh' my Home Page to see if that adjusts the number of records and it does not. When I click on the Reminder it opens the correct Smartlist favorite. The number of records that pull into the Smartlist favorite is accurate.

My user security is set to Power User. I access GP through a VDI.

Why is my Home Page Reminder displaying an incorrect number of records?

I have seen this before but haven't ever been able to chase down the cause. If you get any more information about this please share it. We are currently on GP 2013 R2 but I believe this issue existed at least back to GP 10.
