I want to use the Excel import function to setup a clients company. I cannot seem to find any in depth explanations of the fields that need to be populated ( or Not)

Is there any documentation that provides more in-depth explanations of the processes. explaining what the impact of specific choices?

    Hi

    I didn't find any documentation.  Hover over the headings in the columns if you haven't found that already to get an explanation / default values for fields.

    I found the the DataImport template from Excel didn't have all of what I needed, so I used that as a base for the GL Account, Customer and Vendor and then used the Edit in Excel from those lists to populate other areas.

    Also, another option is the use the Configuration Worksheets - these give more options - particularly for Inventory.  In the Data Import, you couldn't classify items as Inventory or Service - I could only get that using the Configuration Worksheets.

    For business central you need to use standard configuration package. Configure package helps you identify the related table also for importing the required data.

    unfortunately, there is no documentation for that. The setup is quite complex and depends on each company. However, there is a standard configuration package available for you to start though. Go to Configuration Package and look at it.
