Odata action method and custom service

Hi team,

as searched on google, came to know that Odata action method and custom service are almost similar. Both are allowed to ran business logic via API call.

Kindly let me know when I should decide to use Odata action method &

when I should decide to use Custom service.

Kindly elaborate please.

Tell us your scenario and maybe we can help.

For example, If the logic you are doing is related to the entity, then using odataAction makes sense and it will save you time to create request and response classes.

I do not have any scenarios. going through multiple blogs for Custom services and also one of the blog which you shared.

Almost understood. Kindly provide me two separate examples for both please then it will easy for me to decide.

D365FO supports different ways to acheive an integration requirement, and there is no one answer which one is better. Its majorly depends on detailed requirement, budget, data load, frequency and source/target system limitations.
