XMLHttpRequest cannot load 'WebServiceURL'. Response for preflight has invalid HTTP status code 500

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

I am calling an "ONLINE" web service from CRM (JavaScript).

1- On call of any web method in the service, I am getting the error in the title.

Note that when I call the web service methods using WCF Test Client, everything works perfectly.

2- When I call the same web service but hosted locally or on a machine on my network (not hosted online), the call succeeded.

I've tried every single suggestion found on the internet, but the JS call of the "ONLINE" web service is resulting the error in the title.

My Web.config is the following:

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>

And my Global.asax.cs contains the following method:

protected void Application_BeginRequest(object sender, EventArgs e)
        {

            if (Request.Headers.AllKeys.Contains("Origin", StringComparer.OrdinalIgnoreCase) && Request.HttpMethod == "OPTIONS")
            {
                //These headers are handling the "pre-flight" OPTIONS call sent by the browser
                HttpContext.Current.Response.AddHeader("Cache-Control", "no-cache");
                HttpContext.Current.Response.AddHeader("Access-Control-Allow-Methods", "GET, POST, PUT, DELETE");
                HttpContext.Current.Response.AddHeader("Access-Control-Allow-Headers", "Content-Type, Accept");
                HttpContext.Current.Response.AddHeader("Access-Control-Max-Age", "1728000");
                HttpContext.Current.Response.Flush();
                HttpContext.Current.Response.End();
            }
        }

Is it possible that the IIS where the web service is hosted online is missing some configurations?
Thank you!
