We’d like to let you know there will be a Canadian Payroll tax update for July 1, 2016.  This patch will be available for GP2013, GP2015, and GP2016 (R2 versions included).

The expected date of release for this tax update is the week of June 20th, but you can keep checking for early release here:

So far there are only four provinces with expected tax changes; British Columbia, New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, and PEI.  However, this tax release will also include the ROE Hotfix from January (for those who were waiting).

Do you really need to install the tax update?

If any of the following changes affect you then YES.  Otherwise, NO!  That is, unless we get a Round 2 of Canadian requirements.

You will be pleased to note there are no changes in the federal taxes.  All changes the government has announced will not directly affect Canadian Payroll.

If you have employees paying tax in any of these four jurisdictions, you will need to install the July 2016 tax update.

If you did not install the ROE Hotfix in January, you can continue to use the work-arounds or this tax update will include those fixes.
