Changing the user password in GP 10.0

Question Status

We just completed a move and upgrade to GP 10.0 to a new server running SQL2008.  The users are not able to change their password using User Preferences.  They get a message saying "The password change failed for an unknown reason. Enter a different password or contact your System Administrator".  The new password they are entering is at least 6 characters.  What could be causing this?

Are you enforcing password policies? MSDGP > Tools > Setup > System > User

Hi, are you using sql native client odbc?

If you add a brand new user, can they change their password?

Best regards,

We moved GP 9 to a new server and upgraded to GP10.  The users were all there from GP9 installation and we did not try to add any new users.

Can you try and add a new user now and see if you can change their password successfully?

Try to recreate the user, follow the following steps.

1. Remove user from GP.

2. Remove user from SQL (Dynamics) Database.

3. Remove User from SQL(Company) Database.

4. Create User from GP.
