We have a situation where we have a Canadian company Functional and Reporting in US and Canadian dollars. Of course Canada is primary.
We encountered a situation today when attempting to create a Miscellaneous check for a US Vendor. We open the Miscellaneous check window, and by default the Canadian Bank is selected, so we select the US bank and encounter an error that 'the chequebook ID must have the functional currency ID assigned to it'
I reviewed the configuration of the two chequebooks and other then the currency selected they are the same.
I understand that if I do'nt have Access to a currency I would not be able to select is - so that should not be the issue.
Any thoughts or what am I missing??
Just checked Help to confirm, you can only use Miscellaneous Checks for chequebooks with the functional currency, meaning, you cannot do a USD "miscellaneous" cheque if your functional currency is CAD. (This is the Miscellaneous Cheques option on the Financial menu, to be certain we are speaking the same language :) ).
I was afraid of that - I thought that was the case, but hoped that maybe it was different in GP2015.
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news :/
I didn't realize that was a limitation of that feature, good to know for the future. You learn something new every day!
Hey do you know the link for the Microsoft Suggestion site - I have used it so little I just dont know what it is.
I have to post that as a suggestion - it does not make any sense as to why you cant use Multicurrency for this function.
Hi Bill. I came across your post today from 2 years ago. We are having this exact problem. Hoping after two years there is a solution that you might be able to share with us??
Terri-Lynne, I am not sure if that has changed - as Jen Kuntz pointed out back then that the application appears to be operating as designed.
Check the Connect.microsoft.com/dashboard and see if there is a suggestion to vote in favor of adding or changing that function - sorry for the bad news.
Hi Terri-Lynne Hlady,
Bill is correct, this functionality doesn't exist unfortunately.
Since the question first arose, a new "ideas" website has been launched and it's here:
This is a perfect example of a request for new functionality. It's not an "error", it simply isn't supported.
I tested in GP 2018 to confirm it still isn't allowed...
