My users are all on XP SP3 and we just recently updated GP 10.0 to SP5. We seems to be getting a large number of "Application Hang" issues on the user's computers.
I am researching all possibilities and wondered if there is some connection to the SP5 update? Ideas?

Go through this post from David relevant to your issue
David / Jankiram,
Me too facing lots of Application hang issue mostly in in Reports side. This started after installing Payroll Year End Update for GP10.
Do we need to wait for another SP or hotfix to "Fix" this issue.. another issue is Product ID 6499. Icannot install GP 10 becaouse of this ProductID not able to run utilities give me product version issue.Error is : There was a problem ascertaining product version information"
any solution on above issue ?
When you say Payroll year end update for GP10, Do you mean the Round 1 Tax update for 2011. If it is so, Yes, I'm seeing some clients reporting issues on reports. As far as product ID 6499 is concerned, it is new dynamics online services module that has been added in Dynamics GP 10 SP5 and GP 2010 SP1 which is causing issues in your case.
You can try first this in your test environment.
Make backup of all DB
Run the scripts below
Delete DYNAMICS..DU000030 where PRODID = 6499
b. Delete DYNAMICS..DU000020 where PRODID = 6499
c. Update DYNAMICS..DB_Upgrade set db_verOldMajor = 0, db_verOldBuild = 0, db_status = 0 where PRODID = 6499
Then Launch GP Utilities. Do not re initialize. In other words, do not login to Dynamics GP first before launching utilities. I think this might take care of your issue.
Try to recreate the Reports.Dic for your report issues. It might help in reports issue. If you recreate the reports.dic again with the one that is after Payroll update, it might not help. Recreating reports.dic with the one created before update might help.
So many time recreated reports.dic and it didn't show any error on reports but there is somthing wrong after installing "Payroll Year End Update and Round 1 Tax.
I checked through David MusGrave's and I do see a bit of this, but the total for the whole table is not what I would consider very large at 1831 total records. The count does increase when I log into GP. Should I run the delete for both 6499 and for 0? or for the whole table? What would be the downside to that?
0 1331 <---
6499 286 <---
I should also clarify that the hangs are not at GP start but anytime during the user's day. Mostly showing as "Not Responding" messages that may or may not eventually return control. In a few cases, GP just dies and shuts down without warning.
So, will removing the other repeats from SY07110 hurt anything?
delete from DYNAMICS.dbo.SY07110 where CmdParentDictID = 0
There are two products impacting the SY07110 where it is duplicating the records causing noticable delay during the 'launch' of Dynamics GP. The products are 3180 amd 6499. These are the only two products which to consider periodically clearing from the table. For 3180, this is fixed in recent update. For 6499, the fix will be in the next update. Any other duplicate/growing records in the SY07110 is not a known issue.
...Any other duplicate/growing records in the SY07110 is not a known issue.
- Can I clear it?
- Will they be recreated?
With users out of the system and SQL backups in hand, you can clear it. GP will auto populate the table as needed.
Was KB 2435605 intended to contain the fix for 3180 duplicate records in SY07110? As much as I could tell, it seems to be the latest update for GP until yesterday when KB 2477916 was released. The reason I ask is the comment by Randal indicated there was an update available for the 3180 problem. Since we applied KB 2435605, the 3180 problem surfaced and the GP client is taking 5 to 10 minutes to load. Our temporary solution is to use Randal's advice of logging out all users, taking a backup of the database, and clearing the SY07110 table on a nightly basis. We are looking for the latest update to eliminate this process. Also, is our nightly process overkill to relieve the problem or is it good practice in case this process causes other problems? I really don't know the impact of doing this and would like to get some feedback. Thanks.
I installed the Round 2 patch (MicrosoftDynamicsGP-KB2477916-v10-ENU.exe) In test and 6499 still increases.
I thought it was worth a mention.

You are correct in that for Dynamics GP 10.0, this issue regarding the Analytical Accounting (3180) was fixed by the GP 10.0 US Round 2 update (KB 2477916). For GP 2010, it was fixed by SP1.
Unfortunately, for both GP 10.0 and GP 2010, the issue with the Dynamics Online Service (6499), which was scheduled to be fixed by the Round 2 update in both versions of GP, didn't make it and is now scheduled to be fixed in both GP 10.0 and GP 2010 by the Round 3 Tax Update due out the end of February or early March.
I found issue in Reports also , while printing report GP get hung. Even though I did update reports.dic sucessfully. I am only one who facing this issue or others also ?
If you're printing a report and Dynamics GP is hanging, you may need to look at whether or not the report is a modified report or not which would relate to the report dictionary files. You can also use a dexsql.log running during GP hanging to see if there are any errors showing in the log.
If it isn't a modified report, if it is only happening on one machine or so, it could be the main dictionary file for whatever module the report is for, is damaged.
