Exciting news about a new table type in Dynamics 365 Business Central, utilizing the Business Central Container wizard, and more are in this edition of Developer Digest.
The Dynamics NAV and Business Central community, including the ArcherPoint technical staff, is made up of developers, project managers, and consultants who are constantly communicating, with the common goal of sharing helpful information with one another to help customers be more successful.
As they run into issues and questions, find the answers, and make new discoveries, they post them on blogs, forums, social media...so everyone can benefit. We in Marketing watch these interactions and never cease to be amazed by the creativity, dedication, and brainpower we’re so fortunate to have in this community—so we thought, wouldn’t it be great to share this great information with everyone who might not have the time to check out the multitude of resources out there? So, the ArcherPoint Microsoft Dynamics NAV Developer Digest was born. Each week, we present a collection of thoughts and findings from NAV/BC experts and devotees around the world. We hope these insights will benefit you, too.
Mark Brummel shares on Twitter how elated he is that there is a new table type in Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central – the temporary table type.
“I feel like I am the #happiest person in the world. Finally the tabletype #Temporary is implemented in #BusinessCentral. #YesYesYes. Time to update these apps and reduce our footprint on #SQLServer and #AzureSQL. Some of my solutions have hundreds of these guys. #MSDynDev365

Jesus Mira Marin notes: “It’s not yet clear all the differences and implications behind declaring a table temporary or just the record variable using the table, besides the obvious: no data will ever be saved in the table even if we forget the temporary word declaring the record variable.”
Mark continues: “No schema will be created in the database. This is a big thing for hosting millions of BC databases in Azure. This also means you can make "schemachanges" without problems in AppSource. Super Major Improvement.”
The ArcherPoint team is all abuzz as well.
David Kolenko posts: "Is this as great as it sounds or are there a bunch of limitations? We talk a lot about how with BC SaaS, we can no longer rely on just throwing hardware at our performance problems and this sounds like a great step in the right direction."
Bill Warnke adds: "Must mean the TableType property. Which is pretty cool, create a table that doesn't synchronize to the database schema."

Saurav Dhyani asks: “Have you tried New-BcContainerWizard? If not then learn it here.” Check out his post for step-by-step instructions to learn how to create a Docker container using BCContainerWizard.”

Roberto Stefanetti posts some great info about queries from pages in Business Central Execute Queries from Pages, where he shares AL code to accomplish these queries in BC.
