The NAV community, including the ArcherPoint technical staff, is made up of developers, project managers, and consultants who are constantly communicating, with the common goal of sharing helpful information with one another to help customers be more successful.
As they run into issues and questions, find the answers, and make new discoveries, they post them on blogs, forums, social media...so everyone can benefit. We in Marketing watch these interactions and never cease to be amazed by the creativity, dedication, and brainpower we’re so fortunate to have in this community—so we thought, wouldn’t it be great to share this great information with everyone who might not have the time to check out the multitude of resources out there? So, the ArcherPoint Microsoft Dynamics NAV Developer Digest was born. Each week, we present a collection of thoughts and findings from NAV experts and devotees around the world. We hope these insights will benefit you, too.
Denise wants to know: “NAV Notes...does anyone know why the Notes do NOT transfer to restored company when you use the NAV2013 Tools backup/restore function? I think it is because it is a system table. Is it just a matter of checking the ‘Data Common to all Companies’ check box?”
Matt T. offers: “It's either that or because (and I don't know) behind the scenes it works like Rapid Start, and blob fields can't be moved.”
Michael H shares learning from Summit: “At Summit 2019, I attended a session by Mike Hammons, entitled, ‘Understanding the Common Data Model, Dataflows and Power BI’. Mike emphasized:
Mike demonstrated this practically, updating Salesforce in real-time before our eyes ... so, in addition to combining data into one data lake (common data model), he was also able to simultaneously flow data back out to Salesforce. Learn more about the Common Data Model, Getting Started with PowerApps, and the Azure Data Lake from Microsoft.
Denise asks: “Has anyone seen this debugger error? I am getting an error when debugging in a test environment when it hits CU1535 Approvals Mgmt/ApproveSelectedApprovalRequest and tries to call the OnApproveApprovalRequest event subscriber, it dies with this error. I cannot complete the debugging to see what the issue is.”

Bill W. offers: “Looks like a platform issue. See this mibuso.com post, Unable to debug code in Subscriber after cumulative update 6 for NAV 2017.
Tim Lecander asks: “Have you tried setting breakpoints at different places?”
Kyle adds: “As an old compsci professor said to me once, "Sprinkle some printfs around the code."
