Microsoft Inspire 2019 has gathered more than 15,000 people from 180 countries to one place to connect and learn. The event was a fabulous technology fiesta with Microsoft preparing for extraordinary demonstrations ranging from holograms, real-time speech translations to augmented reality Minecraft game. The event seems to get bigger and better each year. I would like to summarize Microsoft Inspire News, reviewing what was important for Dynamics 365 Business Central Partners, what were the new announcements and what to look out for in the near future.
One of the major announcements was the additional 5% incentive for selling Business Central this year and an additional 20% annual deal incentive for all the Direct CSP partners (it also applies to Indirect CSP if they sell direct). No terms and conditions were announced at the event, nor I was able to find it at Microsoft Partner Portal, so it remains unclear at this moment. I suggest contacting either Microsoft or your Indirect CSP provider to learn more.
Internal User Rights were set to go off on June 30th, 2020, but due to Partner Network disappointment, it was canceled. Many believe that Microsoft will continue trying to cancel IURs in the future, but for now – we’re all safe to use our discounted software licenses.
It was announced before, that examination for Business Central Functional Consultants will be brought back soon. However, it is still not clear yet when it will happen – it was postponed again to an unspecified date in the future.
The replication tools/Intelligent Edge is still not yet complete for data migration from Dynamics NAV 2018 or Business Central on-premise version. There is a list of tables missing if you try to use it now (as of July 2019) for your data migration project. The July 2019 update was set to include the complete migration tool, however, it was postponed to October 2019 release.
If you sell Dynamics 365 F&O – I suggest reviewing the licensing changes to it. Finance and Operations will be split into two applications from October 2019, and depending on what the customer uses, there might be a price increase coming.
