Hello everyone, We are going to implement a development to improve de picking of a warehouse with a PDA. My first idea, is to implment it with WebServices, publishing pages that are going to be accesible from the terminal. How can I do for implement a page with an accesible UI for the user? I've read that I should probably implement new simple pages in NAV, adapting them to a small screen. Any hint about this issue? Am i focusing on the right direction? Thank you very much!
And what about upgrade the version and use the phone or tablet client??
Thank you for your answer Miguel. The upgrade is an issue we will probably start is an short/medium term, but now it has more priority this picking issue...
Thw problem Im finding is to create a UI for he pages, because I've published some as webServices, and I checked thy aer accesible,
Thank you very much
The webservices in NAV will help you to expose the functions/methods which will allow you to create/update/delete but those will not help you to build UI, you need to create your own UI and from that you can access the web services and execute the functionality.
Thanks Sursh for your answer.
I've got clear now the idea od the develepment. I'm going to implement a project in VisualStudio2012, implementing the UI and the calls to the procedures of the WebService.
My only doubt is to decide which type of project shoould be the most appropiate, taking into account that the PDA's going to have Windows operating system.
Our NAV version is 2013r2.
Really appreciate your help!
Whether you want to develop a console or windows it is upto you and the hardware OS support, as per NAV concern it has nothing to do since it is used only to publish the webservice which you can access from any of those application.
My first idea is to develop a web app, to make it independent from the device. Hopefuly it will work
May be you can help me with any tip with one issue I'm having.
Finally I decided to develop an ASP.net webApp. But when I call to a function from an onClick event of a button, i got a 401 error:
I have to say that I already have a few console application that execute another published codeUnit in the same server.
So, basically, the difference between the 2 scenarios, is that in the case that generates a 401 error: 1- I'm calling the function from a ASP.net WebApp instead of a Console application 2-The functions return a value to the app Any hint about this issue? Thank you very much!
