We are using Microsoft Dynamic Navision 2009 version for our entire Company operation since April 2010. We would like to know what will be the real value/benefits for migration from MS NAV 2009 to MS NAV 2016. Whether we can continue with current version of NAV 2009. Is there any disadvantage for continuing with current version of MS NAV.
The answer depends on many factors. On the one hand, if your business and system are stable, and the performance is ok, then you might live with 2009 version for quite a while still.
I could mention performance reason as starting from 2013 SQL is used in its full SQL power. However, the main driver to move to new system is the world itself that changes around us quite quickly. Business models, the way how you deal with customers, IT systems - everything is improving and going to completely new level. Newest NAV version (2018) is really a part of global Microsoft infrastructure - Office 365, Power BI, Azure Functions and Services, OCR, APIs, Machine Learning and many other things that your competitors will use while you will not if you stay on 2009 version. Its kind of staying in Y2010 while now is almost a decade had passed.
Just to be sure you are using the most modern business processes to stay on the top of competitive technologies, I advise you to move to the newest version available.
