It appears that if I implement the Service Module then I must create a service contract before I can create a service order and service invoice. I can find no documentation or instructions on how to create a service order and invoice without creating a service contract. Is this correct?
We just signed on with a new manufacturer to do their warranty repair. As such, we did not sell the equipment new. Must I create a new contract for each warranty job that we accept? This can be burdensome.
What would be the steps to create a service orders and then invoice it without creating a service contract?
Contracts are used for recoccuring services to make the process of service orders and service invoices easier.
You can create a Service Order without a Contract.
You can find information about Service Orders in the official documentation: docs.microsoft.com/.../service-how-to-create-service-orders
There are also a lot of good videos on YouTube.
There is no need to make service contract. Just go directly to service order and create a new order. You will need the service item though.
