We have an issue with our inventory. We have (3) stocking locations that have their corresponding BINS. We made it required that all items must have a bin, but in one of our locations if you don't choose a bin the items will go into that stocking location but no bin. We show there is an item in stock but you can't get it out or transfer it because you need a bin. How do we get these items into a bin or even use the item?
Go to the Item Journal and perform calculate whse. adjustment , check this link for more information, the functionality is same even though the blog refers to the old NAV version.
I tried the Calculate Whse. Adjustment and that didn't seem to do anything. A little back story about me and my company, we got very little training and have been learning things as we go and usually by youtube and now this forum. So I could have totally done the Calculate Whse. Adjustment wrong but when I do it, nothing happens.
So I have an item in our MAN location, it shows we have it on the item card. When you go to bin contents there isn't anything there for our MAN location. If you click on the the number on the item card you can see the SN for this item but if you want to reclass it or use it on an order you can't because it isn't there to use because it is not in a bin. Is there any way to just add it to a bin?
I think the option you're talking about is the "Bin Mandatory" on the location card.
These option may have be checked after some movment been made without bin before.
In this case I think uncheck this option, made the tranfers/adjustment then checked it back could be a solution. If anything goes wrong during this please double check you have no more opened item ledger entries on the location
It won't let me change this option because we do have some items in bins.
The system check you have no bin inventory to let you disable the "Bin mandatory" option, and it check if you have no location inventory to enable it.
I'm not sure why you were able to enable Bin Mandatory while you have inventory on the location without bin
BTW you should be able to correct this following :
First remove all bins inventory related to your location (note item/qty somewere) then you will be able to disable "Bin mandatory". Then you will be able to remove location inventory (note items/qty somewere). Then you will be able to enable back "Bin mandatory" then you will be able to refill the bin inventory.
An alternative would be to set the Bin mandatory value to false in SQL time to remove the location inventory and set it back to true after that.
I appreciate all the help, but our inventory is so large that this seems too risky. I am sure one of the developers did some hokey stuff and messed up our one location.
I would recommend you to contact a partner and let them look at your entries and suggest a solution. It is a little difficult to propose a solution without looking at your database.
I highly recommend doing all your changes/testing first on the Test DB.
