Our partner charges $250/hr to do anything for us.
On upwork.com there are "NAV Developers" charging anything from $10/hr to $85/hr .
Is there anything preventing us from using one of those devs to make small changes (if needed) to existing NAV code created by our partner ?
I'm asking this because I recently discovered (or "uncovered" should I say), that there are so many twisted plots in the way NAV 2016 licenses / BREP work.... and I still don't have all my answers.
But I'd like to have the knowledge that allows me to save money.
What does it take from someone else (other than our "partner") to make chhanges or small adjustments to the codeunits that were modified by our partner.
Is it a "NAV Developer Licence" ? (I read that cost 25K )
If our BREP expired, but we have the latest CU update downloaded but not installed - can someone install it for us? Again what does it take / what do we search for? Someone with a "Nav Developer Licence" ? (our partner quoted us 8 hours at $250/hr to install the latest CU update... that's a no.... but our BREP expires in 2 weeks.)
Hi, Hope the following info can help you
1. Yes, there is no permission to design Objects if you don't have a NAV development License.
2. If you are already using NAV2016 and are not starting from zero, you will need to do a small upgrade for Application, Platform, Database when installing the new CU.

I'm confused on (2).
Our partner is claiming that if BREP expires we can no longer apply CU67 to NAV2016 (the latest service pack issued for NAV 2016).
The update itself (CU67) is available for download by anyone for free, from Microsoft's site.
But I'm getting different answers on "Can we INSTALL it, after BREP expired".
Our BREP expires in 9 days. After that, can we still get someone/anyone who has NAV Dev license and apply this CU67 to our NAV system ?
