We have an existing system using US base currency. We need to add a Mexican and Canadian company to our environment and they use their native currency. Can we add these companies to our existing database, which would make life a lot easier for our financial team or would we need to create new separate databases for the new companies. Either way can you provide guidance on the best Microsoft recommended solution?

we do. We hoping to use one database for all the companies but it looks like if you have multiple base currencies it requires multiple databases.
I believe you are correct if wanting to use different base currencies.
The rule of thumb if you want to have different base currencies in a multi-company environment for several companies then you will need to have separate databases. If you want to have several companies in the same database then all companies need to have some things in common and the base currency is just one of them.
