Sales Order Agent multi-user access

Hello,

Would you please provide me with resources to better understand how access to the Sales Order Agent works across users? I understand that a single Sales Order Agent is available per company, that there is a single administrative user, and that there can be users who have access to the Agent secondarily to the administrative user. Does the administrative user need to activate the Agent every workday before the other users can access it, or once enabled, does the Agent run as indefinitely available to all users with access to it? Basically, I'm trying to understand whether the administrative user or their computer is essential to everyday use of the Agent.
I have the same question (0)

    Hello,

Once the Sales Order Agent is activated, it runs continuously in the background.
It does not depend on the admin user being logged in, having BC open, or running a computer session.

Key points (based on Microsoft docs)

Each company has one Sales Order Agent.

The agent runs as an internal background email processor, not as a user session.
When activated, BC monitors the mailbox automatically.

The “administrative user” is only needed to activate, configure, and manage access.
Regular users can work with agent tasks if they have permission.

The agent uses its own agent user account inside BC with its own permission sets.
It does not require the admin’s session to run.

    Answer to your question

No, the admin does NOT need to activate the agent every day.

No, the admin’s computer is not required for daily operation.

Once activated, the agent keeps running and processing emails 24/7 for all authorized users.

    Users only need:

To be granted Manage Agent Tasks permission, or

Be listed as agent users in Manage user access.

    Everything else is automatic.

    Regards,
    Oussama Sabbouh
