Convert Bussiness Central Saas On Cloud to BC On Premise

We run production on Business Central Saas in the cloud.
Due to storage issues we exceeded the capacity quota, we had to move BC from Saas to On Premise
I know that exceeding paid database storage limits won't interrupt transaction processing in existing environments, but we don't know what in the future
Is there a best method to move our BC On Cloud to On Premise?
Our BC capacity is almost 200GB. In my opinion, using docker is not the best way to move our production environment.
Your suggestions will be very helpful. Thank You

Docker is not available for production environments.
If you use On-Pre, you may add other fees, such as Object Range, Universal code, Enhancement Plan, none of this is needed in SaaS.
And the On-Pre version will not be automatically upgraded. The support period of each version is now only 18 months. Please consider these factors before considering downgrading to the On-Pre version.

    Thanks.

Migration from cloud to on-prem might have other drawbacks that you should consider too.

    For example:

    • Manual platform upgrade. You won't stay up to date with latest releases and CUs.
    • Server resources. Your infrastructure needs to fulfill your workload and data volume.

I'm working for a company where we are running 15 different databases on-prem to run different locations. This situation make our scenario a pain when an upgrade is needed, and we are even missing latest AL Extension functionalities due a version limitation of the platform version.

On the technical side, if you are migrating from to same version, data schema shouldn't be an issue.

    Good luck!

    Hi,

What are your topmost tables in terms of size? (Check from Table Information).

Based on tables there are some builds in capabilities in business central to delete some data.

Additionally, if you want to rollback to on-prem, you can do it. But remember the platform and application version should be same.

    Regards,

I would suggest to buy more storage as well. BC is pushing so many update every year, and you'll miss out if going back to on prem.

You can definitely buy more storage and continue in Cloud.
If you want to move to OnPrem then you can export the cloud backup from BC Admin Center and import in OnPrem Server.
