Business Rule Not Applying When Using Business Card Reader in Dynamics 365

Hello Community,

I've set up a business rule in Dynamics 365 that assigns a 'Region' field based on the 'Country' field value. This rule works correctly when creating or editing Accounts and Contacts, including through the Quick Create form.

However, I've noticed that this business rule does not trigger when using the Business Card Reader feature to create new Contacts. The 'Region' field is not set according to the 'Country' field as defined by the business rule.

Is there a known limitation with business rules and the Business Card Reader? Or is there a workaround to ensure that business rules apply when using this feature? Any advice on how to get business rules to execute in this scenario would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

    Ho,

Could you please share any contact record which got created from Business Card Reader?

I am interested in Country field value when Contact record is created from Business Card Reader.

Have you tried removing Condition check for country to see if it works ?

    Hi Bipin,

The business rule was built in order to show the region value without having the user to enter data,
and the rule is working for the main form and for the quick create,
but when using the Business card reader, all fields are filled, except the region field

    Hi,

I think the problem is with Condition action in your Business Rule..

When you are using Business Card Reader, are you make ng sure to choose Region value?

Try removing condition from Business Rule to check if it works

I am using the set filed value action

this is an example from the business rule: (It works the same for all regions)

    Hi AA-01051148-0,
Please post screenshots of your Business Rule.

I recommend checking the Business Rule actions to see if you are using the Set Default Value action or the Set Field Value action.

    Hi!

    The scope is Table (Entity)

I am trying to avoid coding, this business rule works perfectly in the account and competitor tables, it is also working in all the forms for the contact table, it only does not work when using the Business Card Reader to fill the contact info.

    Hi,
This restriction is not currently found in the business rules or in the documentation for the business card reader.
Can you share a screenshot of your business rule logic?
What is the 'scope' you have chosen over here?
Or you can try to other ways to populate 'Region' field based on 'Country' field automatically.
    --Workflow, flow or code...
I hope you can mark my answer verified if it answer your question! If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.
    Regards,
    Leah
