What's happening?

Users experience an issue where the same stage ("Identity") appears duplicated in the Sales Pipeline funnel chart within Dynamics 365 Sales. This duplication does not reflect in the Sales Process Stage, which correctly shows distinct stages ("Identity," "Qualify," "Propose"). Attempts to locate and update the workflow responsible for this behavior have been unsuccessful. The issue is permanent and does not generate any error logs.

Reason:

The duplication of stages in the Sales Pipeline funnel chart occurs because the pipeline phase field values in the view records include multiple distinct values for the same stage ("Identity"). This discrepancy arises when opportunity records are created using different forms, resulting in different values being assigned to the initial pipeline phase.

Resolution:

To resolve this duplicate stages in the Sales Pipeline funnel chart, follow these steps:

  1. Verify the Business Process Flow (BPF) used by different forms:
  2. Check if all forms are using the same Business Process Flow (BPF). Different forms using different BPFs can result in inconsistent stage values.
  3. Ensure consistency across forms:
  4. Identify the forms used to create opportunity records.
  5. Confirm that all forms utilize the same Business Process Flow (BPF).
  6. If different forms use different BPFs, standardize the BPF across all forms to ensure consistent pipeline phase values.
  7. Reset the pipeline phase values for older opportunity records to align with the standardized BPF.
  8. Refer to the official Microsoft documentation for additional guidance: "Troubleshoot issues with Sales Pipeline chart and its phases - Dynamics 365 Sales | Microsoft Learn".

After completing these steps, the Sales Pipeline funnel chart should display the stages correctly without duplication.
