What’s happening?
The inquiry regarding the possibility of keeping a backup of the finance and operations file from Microsoft's side, especially when migrating to another system such as Business Central.
Reason:
Microsoft does not retain backups after an environment is removed from Lifecycle Services (LCS). This means that once an environment is decommissioned, it is no longer supported, and any data associated with it is not recoverable.
Resolution:
- It is crucial to perform a pre-removal backup before decommissioning an environment. This backup should be securely stored for future use if needed.
- If the environment is being migrated to another system, ensure that all necessary data is migrated and verified before decommissioning the original environment.
- If a backup (including encrypted fields) was not created prior to the migration, Microsoft will not be able to assist in recovering that data.
