What’s happening?
Customers have reported seeing random DROP TABLE statements executing within the Dynamics 365 Lifecycle Services (LCS) environment and are inquiring about which tables are being dropped by the system.

Reason:
The execution of DROP TABLE queries is identified as a system automated action, which is by design.

Resolution:

  • Customers are advised to monitor the LCS environment for any DROP TABLE queries and collect the full query details along with the timestamps when they occur.
  • It is recommended to consult with the Independent Software Vendor (ISV) to confirm whether any customizations are responsible for these queries.
  • If the ISV confirms that their customizations do not trigger these DROP TABLE queries, the case can be closed as it is determined to be a system automated task.
  • For further investigation, customers may utilize Application Insights instead of relying solely on LCS environment monitoring.
