What’s happening?
Customers have requested the Autonomous System Number (ASN) for environments hosted by Microsoft, particularly in scenarios where dynamic IP addresses are utilized, leading to challenges in traffic filtering.
Reason:
The Autonomous System Number for specific environments is not typically provided directly by Microsoft. However, the IP addresses used by these environments are part of the IP ranges associated with the ASN.
Resolution:
- Inform the customer that the Autonomous System Number is not typically provided directly.
- Advise the customer that the IP addresses used by their environment are part of the IP ranges associated with the ASN.
- Direct the customer to refer to the documentation on "Connectors outbound IP addresses" for guidance on the IP ranges.
- If the customer inquires about changes to IP ranges due to dynamic IP configuration, inform them that if Microsoft adds a new IP range and their production tier is assigned an IP from this new range, they will need to reconfigure their Akamai filter to include the new IP range.
- Suggest that to stay informed about such changes, the customer can download the Azure IP and Service Tags file from the Microsoft Download Center and regularly check for updates. This file is updated weekly and can help ensure their configurations are up-to-date.
- For further information, refer the customer to the documentation on "Public IP addresses used for sending e-mails - Dynamics 365 Customer."
