Applies to Product -Dynamics 365 Lifecycle Services

What’s happening?
The customer is seeking to create two additional Lifecycle Services (LCS) projects within the same tenant to support distinct operational needs, including one for a specific region and another for global requirements. The existing project is fully utilizing the available licenses, necessitating a redistribution or acquisition of additional licenses.

Reason:
The need for additional LCS projects arises from a digitalization strategy that requires a strict separation of concerns for IT divisions. The existing project is limited to a single legal entity, while the new projects are intended to cater to different operational scopes.

Resolution:

  1. Withdraw 20 full user licenses from the existing LCS project to facilitate the creation of the new implementation projects.
  2. Confirm that the new projects will be hosted in the same tenant and region as the existing project.
  3. Ensure that the LCS is connected with the Azure subscription to allow for the deployment of cloud-hosted environments for development purposes.
  4. Be aware that after removing the licenses, there may be restrictions on the project, which could require the licenses to be reinstated to regain full functionality.
  5. If cloud-hosted environments are created, maintain two licenses within the new projects to ensure operational readiness.
  6. The customer has confirmed their understanding of the implications of having multiple LCS projects within the same Azure Entra ID tenant and will proceed with the necessary license purchases for the new environments.
