What’s happening?
Got an error when trying to get the code to apply a subscription tag.


Reason:
The error seems to be due to a 500 HTTP response to the deployment service request. In a previous similar case, a customer subscription had a policy that restricted the deployment service API.


Resolution:

  1. Ensure that the user has a role in the subscription and is a subscription user.
  2. Retry the option to "get a code."
  3. If the issue persists, capture a network trace of the process when clicking the "get a code" button using developer tools.
  4. Compare the current subscription with another subscription that worked previously to identify any differences in policies or settings.
  5. Check the Azure portal for any application policies that may restrict the deployment service API.
