What’s happening?
The customer is unable to create inventory counting entries due to the presence of inactive items in the system. The counting journal is set to include only items on hand, but it erroneously picks up deactivated items, preventing the counting entry from being created.

Reason:
This arises because the counting journal includes items with a product life cycle state of 'Inactive', which blocks the creation of inventory journals. This is a valid error since journals are blocked for items marked as inactive.

Resolution:

  • To resolve this, it is recommended to create a new product life cycle state for new and in-process items.
  • Update existing items that have a blank product life cycle state to this new product life cycle state.
  • Adjust the filter on counting journal creation to include both 'Operational' and the new product life cycle state.
  • As a workaround, ensure that the counting journal only includes items with a product life cycle state of 'Operational' to avoid including inactive items.
