What’s happening?
Customers are unable to accurately round a quantity of an item involved in a Multilevel Explosion mode's Bill of Materials (BOM). The rounding of the BOM products does not add up correctly when using the Multilevel Explosion mode, while the Make to Order Explosion mode provides correct rounding.

Reason:
This has been identified as by-design, where the default lot size is set to 1 when the BOM line type is set to "item," leading to inaccurate rounding executed by the system.

Resolution:

  1. To achieve correct rounding under the Multilevel Explosion mode, the BOM line type should be set to "pegged supply." This allows the correct value to appear under the consumption per lot size.
  2. The following steps outline the process to modify the BOM line type:
  3. Navigate to Product Information Management > Released Products.
  4. Select the relevant product and go to the Engineer upper tab.
  5. Access BOM Versions and identify the BOM hyperlink.
  6. In the line details, change the BOM line type to "pegged supply" and save the changes.
  7. Then, go to the Manage Cost upper tab, calculate item cost, and ensure the costing version and site are correctly set.
  8. Set the quantity and item procurement mode to production order, select the explosion mode as multilevel, and view calculation details to confirm the correct rounding appears.
Note: Modifying the BOM line type to "pegged supply" may not be feasible for all business scenarios, as it implies that the items are always purchased or produced, which may not align with the customer's actual usage. If this workaround does not fit the business needs, further investigation with the product group may be necessary.
