What’s happening?
The system is unable to automatically process "Batch Reservations" for items that are Batch Above Hierarchy and must match Customer Batch Attributes at the time of releasing to the warehouse.
Reason:
The batch attribute configuration in the system is interfering with the automatic batch reservation functionality, leading to incorrect reservations that affect inventory management and production planning.
Resolution:
To set up “Batch Reservations” for items that are Batch Above Hierarchy and must match Customer Batch Attributes with automatic reservation in Dynamics 365 Supply Chain Management, follow these steps:
- Create a Reservation Hierarchy:
- Navigate to Warehouse management > Setup > Inventory > Reservation hierarchy.
- Click the New button to create a new hierarchy.
- Assign an ID and a meaningful description.
- Ensure the Batch number dimension is above the Location dimension in the hierarchy.
- Define Batch Attributes:
- Go to Product information management > Products > Released products.
- Select the product and click on Batch attributes.
- Define the necessary attributes that need to match customer requirements.
- Set Up Automatic Reservation:
- Navigate to Sales and marketing > Sales orders > All sales orders.
- Create or select an existing sales order.
- On the sales order line, click Inventory > Reservation.
- In the reservation form, ensure the Batch number is selected and matches the customer batch attributes.
- Enable automatic reservation by setting the Reservation field to Automatic.
- Use Flexible Reservation Policies:
- Ensure your reservation policies are set to allow flexibility for batch-tracked items.
- Navigate to Warehouse management > Setup > Warehouse management parameters.
- Under the Reservation tab, configure the policies to support automatic batch reservations.
