What’s happening?
Customers are experiencing issues with the CTP (Capable-to-Promise) functionality in planning optimization, where the confirmed ship date for orders is not respecting the order creation date. This leads to situations where a promised delivery date to a customer may no longer be valid due to prioritization of orders based on requested ship dates rather than their creation dates.

Reason:
The CTP prioritizes orders based on the requested ship date rather than the order creation date. This means that if a subsequent order with an earlier requested ship date is created, it may take precedence over earlier orders, potentially causing delays in fulfilling those earlier orders.

Resolution:

  • Understand that CTP operates by considering the earliest requested ship date for order fulfillment.
  • To avoid unexpected changes in promised dates, it is recommended to proceed with item marking against sales orders and pegging to ensure proper fulfillment for current demand.
  • Adding safety stock to particular items can help mitigate these issues.
  • If the confirmed ship date can be maintained with an alternate supply source, this is acceptable. However, if the initially pegged supply changes, it is important to monitor for potential delays in demand.
  • For further assistance, it is advisable to engage with a planning specialist to discuss how to utilize CTP for planning optimization effectively in relation to specific business processes.

If the above steps do not resolve the issue, or if further information is required, please refer to the relevant documentation or contact support for additional assistance.
