Applies to Product - Dynamics 365 Supply Chain Management

What’s happening?

Customers encounter a cryptography error when attempting to create new sales orders, resulting in an error message with the code "Unknown error 1073741816." This issue prevents the successful addition of lines to sales orders, leading to significant business disruptions.

 Reason:

The behavior experienced is attributed to a product flaw related to an encryption package upgrade. This flaw has been identified and is targeted to be amended within a referenced fix.

Resolution:

  1. Apply the Quality Update (QU) that addresses the cryptography error. This update has been confirmed to resolve the issue in test environments.
  2. Monitor the production environment after enabling the dual write sync to ensure that the error does not resurface.
  3. If the issue persists after applying the update and enabling dual write, collect additional traces to analyze the error further.
  4. Confirm that no other custom flows are triggering the sales line editing and price calculation processes, which may contribute to the issue.
  5. If necessary, escalate the case for further investigation by the engineering team.
If the behavior resurfaces after the update, a new support incident should be opened to continue collaboration on the issue.
