What’s happening?
Customers are experiencing issues with the "On hand list" and "Picking list journal" where the product name column is not available for insertion, despite most team members having the ability to insert.

Reason:
The underlying cause for this is that the data source for the "On hand list" does not currently support the addition of a product name column for certain users. Specifically, for the picking list journal, the product name field for BOM items cannot be added through the standard column insertion feature.

Resolution:

  1. For the "On hand list":
  2. Suggest cleaning the usage data for the specific page "InventOnhandItem" for the affected user. Follow these steps:
    • Go to the settings on the top right corner.
    • Select user options.
    • Navigate to Usage data.
    • Click on All usage data.
    • Filter by "Element name" = "InventOnhandItem".
    • Click Delete.
  3. Confirm if the column in question is visible in the back end by using the table browser method:
    • Access the web-based table browser using the appropriate environment URL and table name.
  4. For the "Picking list journal":
  5. It has been confirmed that the only product name field available for insertion is for finished goods. The BOM item product name field is defined as a Display method and cannot be added through the current functionality.
  6. As a workaround, users can:
    • Select the detail line in the picking list journal and check the "Line details" or hover over the "Item number" field to view related product information.
    • Consider customizing the data source of the picking list journal detail lines to display the BOM item product name.
  7. If further assistance is needed, consider posting suggestions on the Microsoft Ideas platform for potential feature updates.
