What’s happening?
Customers are inquiring about the timeline for the removal of the built-in master planning engine and the implications of continuing to use it.
Reason:
The built-in master planning engine is currently deprecated, meaning there will be no further developments or bug fixes unless a potential bug has no workaround and is strictly related to a feature not supported by Planning optimization. Microsoft is not currently planning to remove the built-in master planning engine, and if a decision is made to remove it, customers will be notified at least one year in advance.
Resolution:
- Complete removal of the feature will be announced at least one year in advance, and as of now, no specific update or date has been provided regarding the removal.
- Microsoft will not support any bugs or issues in the built-in master planning engine, but the code still exists in the product, allowing only existing customers to continue using the built-in solution if they choose.
- Starting in Supply Chain Management version 10.0.41, the deprecated master planning engine is blocked only for all new deployments. There is no manual way to enable the deprecated master planning engine for new environments. However, Microsoft customers who require planning support for the “Lean manufacturing” feature will be permitted to use the deprecated master planning engine as a temporary solution until Planning Optimization supports it.
- Customers are encouraged to review the documentation on continuing to use the deprecated master planning engine for further guidance.
