Applies to Product - Dynamics 365 Project Operations

What’s happening?
Customers are unable to delete actuals related to projects in the Project Operations system, which is causing concerns regarding data management and storage capacity.

Reason:
The inability to delete actuals is a designed behavior within the system. This restriction is in place to protect the integrity of financial and accounting functions associated with project management. Actuals are considered critical data that cannot be removed without potentially impacting downstream systems and reporting accuracy.

Resolution:

  • It has been confirmed that once actuals are recorded in the system, they cannot be forcibly deleted. This is due to the integration of actuals with financial transactions, which ensures the integrity of financial reporting.
  • If there is a need to manage data capacity, it is recommended to review and potentially remove unnecessary projects that do not have associated actuals.
  • For further assistance or to advocate for changes in future updates, customers are encouraged to provide feedback through the Microsoft Ideas platform. A specific suggestion regarding the feature to delete actuals has been submitted, and users can vote on it to increase its visibility to the development team. The link to the suggestion is: Feature to Delete Actuals.
