What’s happening?
When creating beginning balance journals for projects, users encounter the error message "Employee number must be specified" when attempting to create a line with the transaction type "Item."

Reason:
This arises when the Project management and accounting parameters are configured with the value for Resource/Project set as Mandatory. This configuration leads to the error when trying to create an Item transaction.

Resolution:
This is fixed in D365 Finance version 10.0.43. More details on this fixed issue at Details for issue 965427
Note: In case the environment version is 10.0.43 and it does not work, ensure that the flight ProjBegBalJournalTransSkipResourceCheckFlight is enabled.

In case upgrade to version 10.0.43 is not possible, go to Project management and accounting> Setup> Project management and accounting parameters> General tab and change the setting for Resource/Project field from Mandatory to a different value (e.g., Optional or Not Mandatory).

Attempt to create the Item transaction again to verify if the error persists
