What’s happening?
When the target utilization is updated to a specific percentage (e.g., 5%) for a role, and that role is assigned to a project task, the system calculates the total work hours instead of calculating based on the target utilization percentage.
Reason:
This behavior is expected as per the product design. Resource utilization is calculated using the resource's actual hours (approved time entries) and capacity (work hours). The target utilization (either on the resource or a role) is considered when reviewing the utilization grid but does not influence the calculations for project tasks.
Resolution:
- Ensure that the target utilization is set correctly for the role.
- Understand that the system calculates the total work hours based on the resource's actual hours and does not adjust for the target utilization percentage in project task assignments.
