What’s happening?
Customers are experiencing errors when attempting to preview posting assembly orders or general journals in Dynamics 365 Business Central. The errors may include permission issues or unexpected entries in the preview posting.
Reason:
- For assembly orders, this may be related to external extensions that interfere with the preview posting process.
- For general journals, the error may occur due to insufficient permissions assigned to the user, specifically lacking Modify permission for the General Ledger Setup, despite having only read permission.
Resolution:
For Assembly Orders:
- Remove any external extensions that may be causing this. After removing the extensions, attempt to preview post the assembly order again.
- Verify the user's permission set. Ensure that the user has the necessary Modify permissions for the General Ledger Setup.
- If the user continues to face issues, gather the full error message displayed when attempting to preview post and the entire permission set assigned to the affected user for further investigation.
- If the issue persists, attempt to reproduce the error in a sandbox environment without any non-Microsoft extensions installed.
- Document the steps taken to recreate the issue and share this information with support for further analysis.
