What’s happening?
Customers are experiencing uncertainty regarding the impact of adding or changing fields in entities configured with Synapse Link for Dataverse. Specifically, they are unsure if these changes require manual reconfiguration or if they are automatically reflected.
 

Reason:
When fields are added to an entity configured with Synapse Link for Dataverse, it is documented that no special actions are required from the customer, and the new columns will be automatically added and synchronized with the Data Lake. However, changes to data types are considered destructive changes, necessitating the unlinking and relinking of the Synapse connection.
 

Resolution:

  1. If fields are added to an entity, no additional actions are required, and the Data Lake will automatically synchronize the new columns.
  2. For changes in data types, unlink the Synapse connection and then relink it to ensure proper synchronization.
