What’s happening?
Customers are experiencing challenges with storage allocation for the Production (PROD) environment, particularly regarding the need for dedicated storage that is separate from Development (DEV) and Testing (TEST) environments. This situation can lead to performance degradation, data contamination, and potential outage risks.

Reason:
Technical orientation.

Resolution:

  1. To allocate dedicated storage for the PROD environment, utilize the "Allocate capacity" feature as described in the official documentation. This allows for the allocation of a utilization quota to the environments.
  2. Monitor storage consumption by accessing the Power Platform Admin Center:
  3. Navigate to the Power Platform Admin Center.
  4. Select Resources from the left navigation pane.
  5. Click on Capacity to review Dataverse storage.
  6. Set up warning notifications for different predefined percentage values (e.g., 60%, 70%, 80%) to inform administrators when the allocated capacity is nearing its limit.
  7. For environments consuming excessive storage, consider cleanup activities to optimize storage utilization.
