What’s happening?
Cashiers are unable to process returns for discontinued products at the point of sale (POS) when the "blocked at cash register" setting is enabled in the article commerce field.

Reason:
The configuration settings for article returns are not properly set to allow returns of discontinued products when they are blocked at the cash register.

Resolution:
To configure the system to allow returns of discontinued products that are blocked at the cash register, follow these steps:
Set Up Return Locations:

  1. Go to Retail and navigate to the setup for Warehouses, and select a warehouse.
  2. On the Retail FastTab, in the Default return location field, select the inventory location to use for returns where the info codes or reason codes aren't mapped to return locations.
  3. In the Default return pallet field, select the pallet to use for returns where the info codes or reason codes aren't mapped to return locations.
  4. Go to Retail and then Inventory management to create a new return location policy.
  5. Enter a unique name and a description for the return location.
  6. On the General FastTab, set the Print labels option to Yes to print labels for all the products that are assigned to return locations.
  7. Set the "lock inventory" option to Yes to take returned products in the default return location out of inventory and prevent them from being sold.
Map Specific Retail Info Codes and Subcodes to Return Locations:
  1. On the Retail info codes FastTab, select Add.
  2. In the Info code field, select an info code for returns.
  3. In the Subcode field, select a subcode for the reason for the return. The Description field shows the description of the selected subcode.
  4. In the Store field, select the store where the info code is used.
  5. Use the Location and Pallet ID fields to specify a return location.
  6. Select the "lock inventory" checkbox to take returned products out of inventory and prevent them from being sold.
Map Specific Sales and Marketing Reason Codes to Return Locations:
  1. On the Sales and marketing reason codes FastTab, select Add.
  2. In the Reason code field, select a reason code for returns. The Description field shows the description of the selected reason code.
  3. In the Store field, select the store where the reason code is used.
  4. Use the Location and Pallet ID fields to specify a return location.
  5. Select the "lock inventory" checkbox to take returned products out of inventory and prevent them from being sold.
Create a Return Policy:
  1. Go to Retail and then Channel Setup to create a new return policy template.
  2. Add a name and description for the policy.
  3. In the Allowed refund payment methods section, define allowed return payment tenders that are specific to each payment method.
  4. Associate the return policy template with the stores where it will be used.
  5. In the Retail Channels tab, associate the available channels.
  6. On the Distribution schedule page, run the 1070 job to make the channel return policy available to the POS.
By following these steps, the system can be configured to allow returns of discontinued products that are blocked at the cash register.
