What’s happening?
When a gift card is issued and paid for at the POS, the transaction does not appear in the Store Sales by Register report. However, when the gift card is redeemed, the amount used from the gift card is recorded as a sale in the same report. Users believes that the amount added to the gift card and paid should appear on the sales report.
Reason:
The system is designed to handle gift card transactions differently. The issuance of a gift card is treated as a financial transaction rather than a sales transaction, which is why it does not appear in the sales report. Conversely, the redemption of a gift card is treated as a sale, and thus it is reflected in the sales report.
Resolution:
The users can access the Gift Card Balance Report in HQ for a complete overview of all gift card data. To access this report:
- Navigate to Retail and Commerce in the Dynamics 365 headquarters.
- Go to Reports and select the Gift Card Balance Report.
- Run the report, filtering based on criteria such as gift card number, store, or date range to view details of all gift cards, including their current balances and transaction history.
