Applies to Product - Power Pages
What’s happening?
The customer wants to convert a developer website to a production site and create a static web page that can be connected to a custom domain.
Reason:
This arises because the website is currently in a trial state, and there is no direct option to convert it to a production site.
Resolution:
To successfully convert your website from trial to production and connect a custom domain, follow these steps:
- Prepare the Target Environment: Ensure that your target environment (production) is ready. This involves provisioning a new website in the production environment using the same template as your developer website.
- Export Configuration: Export the configuration from your developer environment. You can use tools like the Power Platform CLI, Configuration Migration Tool, or solutions to export the website configuration.
- Import Configuration: Import the exported configuration into the production environment. This will transfer all the necessary settings and customizations.
- Provision the Website: In the production environment, provision the website using the same template as the developer environment to ensure consistency.
- Finalize and Test: After importing, make sure to test the website thoroughly in the production environment to ensure everything works as expected.
- Connect Custom Domain:
- Ensure that the CNAME mapping is created from the custom domain URL to the Power Apps portals URL.
- Check if the custom domain is associated with any other existing portal in your tenant. If the custom domain has not been deleted from any of the existing portals, the custom domain addition on the new portal will fail.
- Only one custom domain can be mapped to a portal.
- Verify that the host name of the certificate matches the custom domain being added.
- Ensure that the custom domain does not have any additional TXT records associated with it, as this may cause the custom domain addition to fail.
