What’s happening?
Customers are experiencing difficulties in setting up Microsoft Entra ID as an authentication method for Power Pages. They report issues such as missing authentication buttons and failed login attempts.
Reason:
The underlying cause of this is related to incorrect configurations in the site settings for authentication and registration, as well as potential misunderstandings regarding the use of Microsoft Entra ID versus Microsoft accounts.
Resolution:
- Verify Site Settings: Ensure that the following settings are correctly configured in the CRM Active Site Settings:
- Disable any conflicting authentication methods, such as Azure AD, if they are not needed.
- Check for the presence of the “Authentication/Registration” settings and ensure they are correctly set up.
- Enable Registration: Set the Authentication/OpenIdConnect/OpenId_1/RegistrationEnabled site setting to true.
- Sync the Portal: After making changes to the site settings, sync the portal to apply the updates.
- Clear Cache: Clear the cache of the portal to ensure that the latest settings are reflected.
- Test Login: Attempt to log in using the configured Microsoft Entra ID to verify that the authentication button is now visible and functional.
- Network Trace: If issues persist, collect a network trace of the sign-in page to provide additional context for troubleshooting.
- Documentation Reference: Follow the official documentation for setting up an OpenID Connect provider with Microsoft Entra ID:
- Set up an OpenID Connect provider with Microsoft Entra ID | Microsoft Learn
- Convert single-tenant app to multitenant on Microsoft Entra ID - Microsoft identity platform | Microsoft Learn
- Feedback and Follow-Up: If the issue remains unresolved, provide feedback to the support team and request further assistance or escalation to the Product Team.
