What’s happening?
Customers are experiencing difficulties using service account credentials for authentication in Power Apps and Power Automate. Specifically, there are issues with integrating CyberArk credentials securely without requiring manual login, and there are performance delays when accessing Power Apps.

Reason:
The underlying cause of the authentication issue is that Power Apps and Power Automate do not support dynamic credential passing from CyberArk. Additionally, Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) restrictions prevent direct login using the service account, which complicates the authentication process. The performance delays in Power Apps may be related to intermittent issues with SharePoint Online and OneDrive connections.

Resolution:
For the authentication issue:

  • It was determined that the service account must be the owner of Power Automate flows, but ownership cannot be set dynamically via CyberArk authentication.
  • Assigning the service account as the owner during deployment may be a feasible option.
  • Engage with Customer Support Account Managers to explore development resources that can assist with credential management.
For the performance delays:
  • Investigate if the delays are related to the connection between Power Apps and SharePoint Online.
  • Confirm if the performance issues persist and gather additional details to assist in further investigation.
  • Utilize troubleshooting tools for Power Automate to diagnose and resolve connection issues that may be causing delays.
  • If issues persist, refer to the documentation for troubleshooting missing environments and user access issues as potential resources for resolution.
